Facial (sexuality)

In a sexual context, a facial is the depositing of semen on the face of another person, commonly the primary sexual partner involved. Since semen can sting if it enters the eye, closed eyes or avoiding that area is normal. Depending on the inclination of those involved it can be partially directed into the mouth, with arrival elsewhere an accident of sexual play, involuntary movements or inherent variability rather than deliberate intent. It's not uncommon to arrange for a facial as the final part of fellatio or masturbation or other sexual acts, either to show acceptance and comfort with the presence of semen or simply as part of sex play, though doing so before orgasm has commenced may decrease the strength of the orgasm.

Attitudes and acceptance of the act vary widely, depending on the degree of sexual liberation and preferences of the partners and society involved. Bukkake is a form of group sex activity involving multiple partners taking part in this act.

In pornography, a facial photograph or scene is commonly used to demonstrate that a real sexual act of some sort has happened, since ejaculation (the so-called "money shot") is usually clear evidence that a male has reached orgasm, though some degree of faking via small quantities of fluid placed in the urethra and low speed emission is possible. The ejaculating partner typically masturbates in order to ejaculate on his partner's face.

Note that ejaculation onto the face is not a safer sex act, as there is a small but non-zero risk of infection through the mucous membranes and eyes, in addition to the risks of oral sex.

Some people consider this act disrespectful to the person on the receiving end, although some people do receive sexual pleasure from it. Whether it is really an act of disrespect depends on the mutual perceptions and intentions of the participants.
