Erna Rosenstein
Erna Rosenstein (May 17, 1913 – November 10, 2004) was a surrealist painter and poet. She was born into a Jewish family in the Polish town of Lvov, now in Ukraine. She died of arterial sclerosis.
She studied at Wiener Frauen Akademie (1932-1934) and Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1934-1936).
She belonged to a group of artists known as the Cracow Group, which she had met at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Her works were evoked by her experiences as a Jew in Nazi-occupied Poland. She published a book of her memoirs and several volumes of poetry.
She was the sister of Boston University professor and economist Paul N. Rosenstein-Rodan who coined the term "underdeveloped countries."
