Ermenguer
Ermenguer was the first known ruler of the county of Empúries, attested 813-817.
Seems that was a goth from the local nobilty that received the county from the Frankish kings that they have stablished their role in the region about 15 years before. The new policy of the Frankish kings about 817, give the county to Gaucelm, count of Rosselló.
Ermenguer led a local fleet that in 813, was near the Balearic Islands. After a truce with the muslims, the arab ships from Hispania ravaged Corse and Sardinia (813), but when they come back were surprised by Ermenguer and defeated. Five hundred Christian prisioners were liberated.
