Eric Roy
Eric Wilbur Roy is a former New Zealand politician. He was an MP from 1993 to 2002, representing the National Party. He first entered Parliament in the 1993 elections as MP for Awarua. He became a list MP in the 1996 elections when he failed to win the new seat formed when Awarua was merged with Invercargill. He unsuccessfully contested the merged seat (still known as Invercargill) in the 1999 elections, and remained a list MP. He retired from politics at the 2002 elections. Roy served as Assistant Speaker of the House from 1998 to 2002, initially under National's Doug Kidd and then under Labour's Jonathan Hunt. Before entering politics, Roy was a farmer and company director. He is a Justice of the Peace.
