Eric Goles

Eric Goles (born August 1951, Antofagasto) is a Chilean mathematician and computer scientists. He studied engineering at university before taking two doctorates at the University of Grenoble in France. A professor at Universidad de Chile, he is known for his work on cellular automata.

He was awarded the Premio Nacional de Ciencias Exactas (Chilean National Science Prize) in 1993. He is the President of CONICYT (the Chilean equivalent of the National Science Foundation in the USA), and an advisor on science and technology to the Chilean government.
