Eragon (movie)

Details

In January of 2004, 20th Century Fox announced its intentions to create a film based on the bestselling fantasy Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. A tentative release date has been set for June 2006. Eragon tells the tale of a boy named Eragon who finds a dragon egg and soon takes up the legacy of the legendary Dragon Riders, fighting an evil king.

Cast and Crew

As of now, only a screenwriter (Peter Buchman, who wrote the script for Jurassic Park III) and, most recently, a director (Steven Fangmeier, a first time director of limited success as a visual effects director, having worked on Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, to name a few). Karen Murphy has recently been added to the crew as Visual Effects Supervisor. No news on casting has been announced. The movie is set to film in Europe starting in July.

Extras

Paolini, the author, has expressed his wishes to be featured in a brief role in the film---as a warrior who is beheaded in the the battle of Farthen Dûr.
