Epoche
Epoche is a theoretical term concieved in the philosophy of Aristotle.
Epoche describes the theoretical moment where all actions are suspended, and the subject does not introduce action.
Practically, this literally means doing nothing until someone or something causes you to act (e.g. not talking on the phone until someone calls you.) The idea is that the subject then continues along whatever path is presented to him (so if a friend calls and invites you out, the automatic answer is "yes" no matter what.) The idea is that this will not only produce an enlightend state of being-in-the-world, but by abandoning the desire of a "self" with selfish actions and motivations, pradoxically, one will gain everything one thought he was giving up by abandoning the nurture of the "self" (love, money, happiness, etc.)
This idea is similar to the being-in-the-world of existentialism.
