Entamoeba coli

Entamoeba coli is a non-pathogenic species of amoeba that is important clinically in humans only because it can be confused with Entamoeba histolytica, which is pathogenic, on microscopic examination of stained stool specimens.

A simple finding of Entamoeba coli trophozoites or cysts in a stool specimen requires no treatment.
