Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station
Named for the first physicist to split the atom, the Enrico Fermi plant is located near Detroit, Michigan Northeast of Toledo, Ohio in Monroe County, Michigan. The prototype Fermi 1 unit operated at the site from 1963 to 1972 and is now in the process of decomission.
Fermi II is operated by the Detroit Edison Company and owned (100 percent) by DTE Energy.
