Emperor Shoko of Japan
Emperor Shōkō (称光天皇) (May 12, 1401 – August 30, 1428) was the 101st imperial ruler of Japan. He reigned from October 5, 1412 until his death on August 30, 1428. His personal name was Mihito (実仁).

Genealogy
He was the eldest son of Emperor Go-Komatsu. His mother was Hinonishi Motoko (日野西資子), daughter of Hino Sukekuni (日野資国). He had no children of his own, and was succeeded by his third cousin, Go-Hanazono, great-grandson of the Northern Pretender Sukō
Name
The name Shōkō (称光) was formed by taking one kanji each from the names of the 48th and 49th imperial rulers Shōtoku (称徳) (an empress) and Kōnin (光仁).
Life
On October 5, 1412, he ascended the throne upon the abdication of Emperor Go-Komatsu. His actual coronation date was the 19th day of the 12th month, 1414.
He was connected to Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and the Hino Family through his mother's side.
Emperor Go-Komatsu ruled as Cloistered Emperor during his reign.
Because of illness, Shōkō had no children of his own. For this reason, Emperor Go-Komatsu chose a prince, by blood Shōkō's third cousin, for Shōkō to adopt, who became Emperor Go-Hanazono following Shōkō's death.
