Empúries

Empúries is a town in the Mediterranean coast of the Catalan comarca of Empordà. It was founded by the ancient Greeks with the name of Ἐμπόριον ( Emporion — "market").

It was also the capital of the historical Catalan county of Empúries, whose territory was roughly the current comarques of Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà.
