Emo, Ontario
Emo is a small rural township, located near the Rainy River in northwestern Ontario, Canada, directly north of the state of Minnesota. It is known for its stock car races and fair.
Emo is within a short drive of two bridges to the United States. One is located at Fort Frances, approximately a 30-minute drive from Emo. Another bridge to the United States is in Rainy River, Ontario, about 40 minutes away from Emo.
Emo has a thriving tourism industry thanks to its resorts and stock car racing speedway. Emo serves as a scenic stop for many travelers who are going from Manitoba to Minnesota by way of Ontario; this route is referred to as "MOM's Way". In addition, several hunting and fishing lodges are located near Emo, at the Clearwater/Pipestone Chain of Lakes.
The Emo Speedway draws race participants from the central US and elsewhere in Canada. The track is a quarter-mile, banked clay track.
The Norlund Chapel, built in Emo in 1973, is one of the smallest churches in the world. Measuring 8' x 10', the chapel can only hold eight people at any given time.
