Emeric of Hungary (saint)
Prince St. Imre, also Emeric, Henricus, Emmerich, Emericus or Americus (Székesfehérvár, 1007 (1000?) – Veszprém, September 2 1031) was the son of Stephen I of Hungary. He was educated by Bishop Gerhard (Gerard Sagredo; Saint Gellert) from the age of 15 to 23. He was intended to be the next monarch of Hungary, his father wrote admonitions to prepare him for this task, but he died at a young age, at hunting, by a boar. For his pious life and purity, he was canonized in 1083.
Amerigo Vespucci was named after the saint.
