Edmonton Pro Lacrosse
Edmonton Pro Lacrosse is a yet unnamed professional lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League scheduled to start playing in the 2006 season.
The NLL announced on May 5, 2005, that starting the 2006 season, Edmonton, Alberta will have a franchise. They will play their home games at Rexall Place. The Edmonton team is owned by businessman and Calgary resident Bruce Urban, who purchased the dormant Ottawa Rebel franchise. Edmonton resident Craig Anstead, who has a minority stake in the team, has been named the managing partner.
Although early reports suggested that they would be playing as the Edmonton Speed, they are currently holding a contest for the team name, logo, and mascot.
