Edam-Volendam
Edam-Volendam (population: 28,194 in 2004) is a municipality in the north-western Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The municipality covers an area of 24.78 km² (of which 8.47 km² water).
It consists of the settlements Edam and Volendam.
Volendam
Fourteen people died and 180 were injured (many with lasting scars) after Christmas decorations caught fire in a café packed with teenagers celebrating New Year in Volendam on January 1, 2001.
