The Motorola E398 is a candy-bar style camera telephone. The innovative features of this phone are its "disco compatibilities": Stereo surround sound, haptics and MP3 ringtones. Haptics means, the phone flashes buildtin color LEDs according to the rhythm of the music. It also contains a pair of stereo speakers, located on the side of the phone. There is also a transducer internally that provides bass that can be felt when the phone is held in hand.
It uses GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 Tri-band technology. It weighs 107g and has 4 MB internal memory 4MB. The Motorola E398 supports TransFlash, another name for MicroSD, an ultra-compact edition of SD-Memory through a TransFlash Slot under the battery. TransFlash memory cards are currently available up to 256 MB. The display features an 176 x 220 pixel big active matrix TFT LCD with ATI Graphic Accelerator. The digital camera can record still images in VGA size, 640 x 480 pixel. The camera has a LED light. You can connect to the PC via Bluetooth or an USB cable.
Additionally it features Java MDIP 2 J2ME, instant messaging, MMS, EMS, SMS, WAP & GPRS And it has Email support by POP3, SMTP and IMAP4.
The E398 can play MPEG4 video clips but recording is not supported.
