Dyess Air Force Base

Dyess Air Force Base is located in Texas, just west of the city of Abilene. The city of Abilene obtained and provided to the Department of Defense 6,409 acres (26 km²) for a military installation. Ground-breaking ceremonies occurred on the base on September 24, 1953.

Dyess Air Force Base is part of Air Combat Command and is home to the 7th Bomb Wing which flies the B-1B Lancer bomber and hosts the 317th Airlift Group which flies theC-130 Hercules transport. The base's Linear Air Park contains 30 aircraft from World War II to the present. Aircraft displayed along Arnold Blvd.
