Dutch Jewish council

This article deals with the Jewish Councils that were active during the German occupation of the Netherlands during World War II.

Shortly after the Germans occupied the Netherlands, they realised that the Jewish question needed to be dealt with as soon as possible, before they could organise a capable resistance. To this end, several Jewish councils were instated. Although they acted separate from one another, their actions were very similar across the country. As such, this article deals with all of them as a whole.

Members of the councils were given priviliges compared to most other Jewish people, such as being allowed to travel freely or to have meetings. They also acted as the official governing body in their respective regions, as far as Jews were concerned.
