Tomorrowland is one of the five original lands that form a Magic Kingdom-style theme park, owned by The Walt Disney Company.

Disneyland

The first Tomorrowland opened at Disneyland in 1955, but was famously half-built due to budget cuts. In 1967 Tomorrowland was revived, with brand new rides and scenery. In 1998, Tomorrowland received a new paint scheme and some new attractions, but was considered a flop, especially after its flagship new attraction, Rocket Rods, closed in September 2000. The 1998 new Tomorrowland was very controversial among Disney fans; some liked it, some didn't. In February 2005, Walt Disney Imagineering approved a repaint of Tomorrowland for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary that would incorporate most of the 1967-1997 paint scheme, but keep a little of the gold and bronze of the 1998 scheme. Rocket scientist and Hitler elite Wernher von Braun designed many of the scientific features of Tomorrowland.

The Magic Kingdom

The second Tomorrowland opened with a much larger budget in 1971 at The Magic Kingdom park in the Walt Disney World Resort, Florida. The new Tomorrowland was built much closer to Walt Disney's vision, whereas Disneyland's Tomorrowland struggled to come close due to a very small budget.

Today, Tomorrowland is the pioneer of all Tomorrowlands. Some of the most popular Disney park attractions premiered here – Space Mountain opened in 1975 and is now part of every Tomorrowland around the world. Classic Disneyland Tomorrowland attractions that have since closed live on at the Magic Kingdom – the PeopleMover is here under the name of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, and the Carousel of Progress is still here.

Tokyo Disneyland

The paint scheme is mostly entirely white, as is Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. The Imagineers set out to create an urban Tomorrowland, much more like a working community than a showcase of future technology. The rides are much more technology-specific, and effects are much more expensive and hard-hitting. Many see the Tokyo Disneyland Tomorrowland as the definitive finished article of Walt Disney's vision – due to a much larger budget for the Imagineers to play with, courtesy of the Oriental Land Company.

Disneyland Paris

Discoveryland is Disneyland Paris's version of Tomorrowland, and opened in 1992. It has most of the traditional Tomorrowland attractions, like Autopia, Star Tours, and the Orbitron (cloned at Disneyland in Anaheim as the Astro Orbiter). A major difference from other Tomorrowlands is its Jules Verne-style architecture, which made a home at Disneyland's Tomorrowland in 1998, adding elements from Disneyland Paris's Discoveryland, but in February 2005, Disneyland's Tomorrowland had begun being repainted as it was before the 1998 paint scheme. Another major difference is Discoveryland's Space Mountain. This Space Mountain is different, as it is launched by linear induction motors and has inversions.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Hong Kong Disneyland opens in 2005 with its own version of Tomorrowland. Announced attractions include Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, the Orbitron, and the Space Mountain roller coaster.
