Diesel Sweeties

Diesel Sweeties is a web comic written by Rich Stevens III (rstevens). The comic began in 2000, originally hosted at robotstories.com.

The comic traditionally consists of four panels of dialog, with a punchline (often a non sequitur or pop culture reference) in the final panel. Although there is some character development and the occasional story arc, most strips are largely self-contained. Recurring themes include the annual Hallowe'en strips, featuring characters from the comic in costume. The most distinctive aspect of the comic is the art style: the comic is made up entirely of large pixels, creating an interesting clash between the content and the form.

Diesel Sweeties is part of the Dumbrella community of web comics.

An incomplete cast of characters include (ordered by first appearance):

• Clango: An emotional robot. Introduced in strip #1 as the boyfriend of Maura.
• Maura: Alcoholic ex-pornstar. Introduced in strip #1 as Clango's girlfriend.
• Indie Rock Pete: Poser obsessed with the idea of maintaining a facade of indie cred. Introduced in strip #2.
• Lil' Sis: Maura's younger sister. Worked at a comic store for a time. Introduced in strip #5.
• Johnny Toaster: The toaster of few words. Introduced in strip #7.
• Collin: Occasionally repairs Clango. Introduced in strip #16.
• Joel: Computer programmer. Introduced in strip #21.
• Red Robot #C-63: Robot dedicated to the crushing of hu-mans, although he has also been known to date them on occasion. First appeared in Sam Brown's Exploding Dog. Introduced to Diesel Sweeties in strip #24.
• Sabrina: Presumably inspired by Sabrina of Pocketpig. Introduced in strip #39.
• Daniel: Lusts after Maura. Introduced in strip #47.
• Pale Suzie: Went on a date with Clango, while he and Maura were "on a break". Introduced in strip #56. Currently going stedy with Clango.
• Charles: Token Canadian. Introduced in strip #63.
• Metal Steve: Mullet-sporting rocker. The virginal yin to Pete's lecherous yang. Introduced in strip #76.
• Roger: Orange cat. Introduced in strip #128.
