Diesel (band)
Diesel was a Dutch band from the early 1980s that performed soft metal ballads and pop rock. It was comprised of Rob Vunderink (guitar/vocals), Mark Boon (guitar), Frank Papendrecht (bass) and Pim Koopman (drums/keyboards). The band's members had drifted in and out of another band, Kayak.
Its sole album was Watts in a Tank (1980), which was picked up by a major American record label. The hit song Sausalito Summernights, a song about a road trip in the San Francisco Bay area, got considerable airplay in 1981. The album reached 68 on the Billboard Top Album chart. However the band could never recapture that success again.
The five-minute version of Sausalito Summernights appeared on a CD re-release in 2002.
