Deverry

Deverry is the name of a fictional land in the fictional world of Annwn, which literally means "no place", created by Katharine Kerr. Magic, in the form of 'dweomer', reincarnation, dwarves and elves all exist within Deverry and the world of Annwn. The word Deverry is also used to refer to the series of books by Katharine Kerr that take place in Deverry.

History

While many reader assume the Deverry is an alternate Britain or came from Britain, a more formal history of Deverrians has been presented, involving the the escape from Gaul to Annwn after an attempted rebellion against the Roman Empire. The early Deverrians drove the Horsekin into the Elves and western Dwarves, pushed the eastern Dwarves further east and enslaved the humans indigenous to the land. The method used by the Deverrians to flee from Gaul to Annwn is unknown but is known to involve Cadwallon and the Mother of All Roads.
