Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo
Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo is a 1999 comedy film starring Rob Schneider. Other cast members include Eddie Griffin, Arija Bareikis, and William Forsythe. It was directed by Mike Mitchell.
Plot
The plot is based around Deuce Bigalow, a goofball fish tank repair man and fish caretaker who meets Antione Laconte (Oded Fehr) and ends up taking care of his fishes and his house while he's on vacation. However, when he accidentally smashes Antione's expensive fish tank, he fears for his life and is forced to find a way to repay the damage. A few phone calls and T.J. Hicks (Griffin) helps Deuce get on a path to make enough money to buy a new fish tank, but the job isn't exactly what he expects. He must briefly take over Antione's role as a male prostitute to make the money back. The women he meets are not exactly what he's expecting either, including a woman suffering from narcolepsy, one suffering from Tourette syndrome, and one who weighs close to 750 pounds.
In the end, he falls in love with one of his clients (Bareikis), makes the money back, and even has time to help Detective Chuck Fowler (Forsythe) try to save his marriage.
Reaction
For the type of comedy it was, the movie's reviews were solid. Schneider was doing what he did best, and as it turns out, so was Mitchell and many found the movie crudely funny.
