Der Blutharsch
Der Blutharsch ("snow drenched in blood", "dried blood stains") is the primary musical project of Austrian pagan folk and industrial artist, Albin Julius.
Julius previously founded the occultic, folk-based ensemble, The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud, and has worked with Douglas P. on the Death in June albums, Operation Hummingbird and Take Care & Control. His first release as Der Blutharsch was a self-titled picture disc, limited to 250 copies.
The music of Der Blutharsch employs a primitive, minimalist style coupled with bombast and heavy, tribal drumming. Julius fuses Germanic military speeches with old European folkish tunes, samples, and lyrics that celebrate honor, strength, and the value of the human Will when faced with grave circumstances.
Der Blutharsch is considered by its detractors as singularly dangerous and extremist. This conclusion is often reached due to Julius' use of aesthetics that appear fascistic and his subsequent use of Nazi-era material in the composition of his works. There certainly is truth in the claim that Der Blutharsch can be described, in certain respects, as demonstrating fascist tendencies in their music and aesthetic presentation. They are being banned from playing in venues that are pressured by anti-fascist or anti-anti-semitic groups such as The Anti-Nazi Leage. Recent cancellations in Chicago and Tel Aviv [1] demonstrate the threat that Der Blutharsch presents in these circles.
Others have faces similar obstacles in performing based on their perceived alliances with far right, fascist, and anti-semitic organizations. Death in June and Non have faced protests and have been prevented from performing as scheduled.
Julius releases all Der Blutharsch's music on his own record label, WKN (Wir Kapitulieren Niemals), which means We never give up.
