Denmark competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. It was the sixteenth time that the nation had competed, having missed only the 1904 Olympics. Denmark competed under the IOC country code DEN.

Results by event

Archery

In the first modern archery competition at the Olympics, Denmark entered two men and two women. Their highest placing competitor was Arne Jacobsen, at 8th place in the men's competition.

Women's:

  • Erna Rahbek Pedersen – 2244 points (26th place)
  • Lilli Lentz – 2218 points (29th place)

Men's:

  • Arne Jacobsen – 2423 points (8th place)
  • Herluf Andersen – 2394 points (13th place)

Handball

Denmark began the tournament with a tie against the Soviet Union, but subsequent losses to Poland and Sweden put the Danes in fourth, and last, place in the division. They then had to play in the thirteenth- to sixteenth-place consolation round. They defeated Tunisia and then the United States to finish thirteenth overall.

Men's:

  • Denmark – 13th place (2–2–1)
