Denis Paradis
Denis Paradis (born April 1 1949) is a Canadian politician.
Paradis, a lawyer by training, was first elected to the Canadian House of Commons in a 1995 by-election in the riding of BromeMissisquoi. In February 1997 he was elected chair of the Liberal's Quebec caucus. From 1999 to 2001 the was a Parliamentary Secretary. In 2002, Jean Chrétien appointed Paradis Secretary of State for Latin America, Africa and la Francophonie. When Paul Martin succeeded Chrétien as Prime Minister of Canada he appointed Paradis to the position of Minister of State for financial institutions. He was dropped from the Cabinet following the 2004 Canadian election and returend to the Liberal backbench.
Denis Pardis' brother, Pierre Paradis, is a Liberal member of the Quebec National Assembly.
