Dead man switch

A Dead man switch is a safety protection device. Such a device is typically used to switch off a technical system (i.e. a train) if no input is given for certain period of time.

For example: A train driver is required to press a button at regular intervals. If he gets a heart attack, the button will fail to be pressed and the train will be stopped automatically.
