De Groenen (The Greens) are a Dutch ecological party. They were founded in 1983. In comparison to GroenLinks, the larger green party of the Netherlands, they are more radical on ecological issues and more conservative or realpolitical on other issues. They are (as well as GroenLinks) a member party of the European Federation of Green Parties. At the moment, De Groenen are active mainly in relation to municipal and provincial politics.
