Dazaifu (太宰府市; -shi) is a city located in Fukuoka prefecture, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 66,669 and the density of 2,251.57 persons per km&sup2. The total area is 29.61 km².

The city was founded on April 1, 1982, although it has been important historically for around a thousand years.
