David Hanson (politician)

David George Hanson (born 5 July 1957) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He was educated at Verdin Comprehensive School, Winsford, and at the University of Hull

He was elected Labour member of Parliament for Delyn in Wales in 1992, and held the seat in the 1997, 2001 and 2005 general elections.

In 1997 he was made parliamentary private secretary to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, a post he held until the following year, when he became Junior Government Whip. From 1999 to 2001 he was Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Wales, and then became Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tony Blair from 2001 to 2005. Since May 9 2005 he has been Minister of State for Northern Ireland.
