DShK

The DShK (ДШК, for Дегтярёва Шпагина Крупнокалиберный, Degtyarev-Shpagin Large-calibre) is a Soviet heavy anti-aircraft machine gun, firing 12.7×107 mm Soviet cartridges. It is named for weapons designers Vasily Degtyarev and Georgi Shpagin, and sometimes nicknamed Dushka, from the abbreviation.

History

The DShK was originally produced, in small quantities, in 1934.

In 1938, the DShK-38 variant was introduced. This was used during World War II.

In 1946, the DShK-38/46, or DShKM, was introduced.

As well as the Soviet Union and Russia, the DShK has been manufactured by a number of countries, including China, Pakistan and Romania.
