History
It was founded in 1943 by Roy Woodrick and lately joined by Sid DeVries. The first store was opened in Grandville, Michigan in 1943, under the name Independent Grocery Association. According to the corporation, it was one of the first grocery stores to sell USDA Choice Beef exclusively.
Bob Woodrick, Roy Woodrick's son, has taken the position of president since November 1967. Bob has a strong interest in racial diversity and solving racism issue.
Up to year 2005, D&W has 21 stores throughout Michigan. Bob remains as the company's chairman, and Doug Blease is currently known as the president of D&W.
Supplier Chains
D&W's relies on SuperValu as the main supply of grocery products. On the other hand, the company has it's own store brand D&W, Favorite, and President's Choice.
