Cyäegha

Cyaegha is an obscure deity from the fictional Cthulhu Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft. He is known by the title of The Waiting Dark and he has existed since the dawn of time. He holds a nihilistic perspective, hating everything simply because he can. He appears as a great black-bodied, tentacled green eye. Cyaegha dwells in a vast cavern under the fictitious mountain Dunkelhugel, the "Dark Hill", in Germany. The inhabitants of the nearby farming village of Freihausgarten once belonged to a cult that worshipped him. The cult was disbanded by a young priest who died while battling it in 1860. Even so, once a month, on the night of the full moon, the descendants of the former cultists will still obey a hypnotic, telepathic pull from Cyaegha and will climb up the Dark Hill to perform a ritual that would both appease and bind him. However, despite performing this ritual every month without fail, not only do the villagers greatly fear the mountain and avoid it ordinarily, they are not even aware that they have performed such a ritual. Cyaegha is both served and imprisoned by five lesser demons known as the Vaeyen. They are "The Green Moon", "The White Fire Which Is Darker Than The Night", "The Winged Woman", "The White Dark Which Is More Red Than The Fire" and "The Black Light". Cyaegha is also served by toad-like monsters known as the nagaae. Cyaegha is an earth elemental and is a cousin to Nyogtha, another earth elemental. He is also believed to be related to another Great Old One, Othuyeg, because of their very similar appearances and habits. Like all the other Lovecraftian earth elementals, Cyaegha is adversely affected by the use of the Ankh or Crux Ansata, the Vach-Viraj ritual and the Tikkoun Elixir.
