The cutleaf groundcherry also known as wild tomato, camapu or winter Cherry and several other names is an annual herb. It has a wide distribution. It is a member of the nightshade family Solanaceae.
The leaves are dark green and roughly oval, often with tooth shapes around the edge. The yellow-orange fruits are bourn inside a ballon-like calix, and can be eaten. The flowers are five sided and pale yellow.
