Cut
A cut can be:
- a laceration, such as to the skin.
- a version, such as of a movie.
- a blockage, such as in a supply line.
- the act of cutting a shuffled deck for randomization purposes during a card game deal.
- in civil engineering for (rail)road construction a cut is an excavation e.g. through a hill, see fill.
- a removal, such as haircut or trees.
- a command given by a director to stop filming.
- the Unix cut command to read only certain parts of a line.
- A rule, cut in certain logical deduction systems, which says that if (A, B, . . .) imply C, and C implies D, then (A, B, . . .) imply D. Hence the C is "cut" out of the implication.
- Cut, a notion in graph theory.
- a vest worn by a member of a motorcycle club
