The term Coast Range implies a grouping of hills or mountains near the ocean.

• The Coast Ranges constitute a geologic province of California, spanning the Pacific coast of the state from roughly Humboldt Bay to Point Arguello. The mountains in this province closely follow the San Andreas Fault.
