Coalition of Australian Governments
The Coalition of Australian Governments (COAG) is an organisation consisting of the Australian Federal Government and the governments of the six states and two territories. It meets to debate and coordinate government activities between the federal and state and territorial governments and between the state and territorial governments themselves.
A related organisation is the Loan Council, which coordinates borrowing by the federal and state and territorial governments of Australia.
The COAG is roughly equivalent to the U.S.'s National Governors Association or the Canadian Council of the Federation, but these bodies only include state/provincial representatives, whereas COAG includes federal representatives also.
