Clefairy (Pippi (ピッピ Pippi) in the original Japanese) evolves from Cleffa and into Clefable.

Clefairy is sometimes said to have came to Earth from space. Clefairy live in Mount Moon, in the Kanto region. Clefairy worship the moonstones, and when exposed to them, evolve into Clefable. Clefairy are extremely shy and rarely appear to humans.

Name origin

Clefairy seems to be a portmanteau of "clef" and "fairy."

Anime appearances

Clefairy appear in the episodes Clefairy and the Moon Stone and Clefairy Tales. In Clefairy Tales, they are revealed to be aliens after they construct a spaceship out of everyday materials and try to blast off. They are stopped by Ash and friends and crash.

Other

Clefairy appear in both Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee. In Super Smash Bros., Clefairy uses Metronome to copy another Pokémon's attack. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, while still using a random attack, the selection of attacks seem to be unique to Clefiary, with the exception of Self Destruct. This attack is also used by Electrode in Super Smash Bros. Melee, except Electrode's version of the move can harm the person who released it. Clefairy using Self-Destruct is probably a reference to the animé, where this attack seems to be the most common result of using Metronome.
