Clayton College and State University (CCSU) is a public university in Morrow, Georgia with over 5,700 students. It is a part of the University System of Georgia.
The main campus is comprised of 163 wooded acres (66 hectares) with five lakes in the northern part of Clayton County in suburban metro Atlanta. Several satellite campuses exist, such as in Fayetteville and Locust Grove. Also, Since 1991, Clayton States Spivey Hall has presented jazz and classical music to the metro Atlanta area.
CCSU was converted to a four-year institution in June of 1986.
CCSU was originally founded in 1969, and was originally known as Clayton Junior College. The school took on other names such as Clayton State College before being assigned its current name by the Georgia Board of Regents in 1996.
Student Body
Clayton State students live throughout Atlanta and represent every region of the United States and some 25 foreign countries. While one-third of the students are under 22, the median age is 28. The 2003 US News & World Report ranking of colleges identified Clayton State as having the most diverse student body population among comprehensive baccalaureate-level colleges and universities in the Southeastern United States.
