Chvostek's sign
Chvostek's sign (also Weiss' sign) refers to an abnormal reaction to the stimulation of the facial nerve. It was first described by Frantiek Chvostek in 1876, and later by Nathan Weiss in 1883.
Often seen in tetany and anxiety patients, Chvostek's sign is elicited by tapping the facial nerve in front of the ear. It is often characterized as a grimace or a twitching of the nose and lips.
