Chuck Hardwick

Chuck Hardwick is a former state legislator in New Jersey. A resident of Westfield, New Jersey, he served for a number of years in the New Jersey State Assembly. In 1989 he unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for Governor. He was succeeded in the Assembly by Rich Bagger. He served for a period of time in the 1980s as the Speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly, while Thomas Kean was the governor. He also served as Minority Leader and Minority Leader Emeritus of the Assembly during his tenure. He primarily represented Union County as an assemblyman. He did not seek reelection in 1991 in order to go into business.
