Chris Needs
Chris Needs, MBE is a Radio Broadcaster with the BBC, working with BBC Radio Wales. He has been broadcasting with the BBC for several years, formerly having an afternoon show on BBC Radio Wales, but he moved to an evening slot about 2 or 3 years ago.
Chris's listeners to the show, broadcast weeknights, come from a wide and varied area. Most of the people who call into his show belong to an organisation called "The Chris Needs Friendly Garden Association". "The Garden" as it has become known, has almost 30,000 members from places as close as Wales itself, out as far as Queensland, Australia. Not only can People join the garden, but you can also get pets and animals into the garden. To join, either write to Chris, sending an email or by phoning into the show and asking on air.
Members of the Garden are given their own identification code, usually starting with an M for male members, A for Animals, or without a letter for Female members.
Chris is from a place near Port Talbot in South Wales, called Cwmafan, which he affectionately calls "The Land of the Moving Curtains". He is 50 years old, and was recently awarded the MBE (Member of the British Empire) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the 2005 New Years Honours List.
