Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Season 7 – Episode 22

Chosen is the finale of the TV-series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, aired May 20, 2003

This episode depicts the final battle between The First and the potential Slayers, and the preparations for it. Buffy comes up with a plan to make all potentials all over the world into Slayers. Willow and her magic plays a key role in the execution of said plan. The battle itself takes place at various locations in the Sunnydale High School main building. They split up in smaller teams to guard different parts of the school; Giles and principal Wood, Dawn and Xander, Willow and Kennedy, Anya and Andrew. The rest takes the basement, which is also where the greatest battle takes place, where the Slayers Faith and Buffy together with the potentials have to face a great number of bringers and vampires. Two main characters die in this last episode: Anya (after being nearly cut in half) and Spike (as he is staying behind to the very end as Sunnydale is demolished.) They were introduced in seasons three and two, respectively.

The story isn't entirely wrapped up. The Buffyverse could continue, as Giles points out that even though this particular Hellmouth was closed, "there is another one in Cleveland."
