Chevrolet Nubira
The Cheverolet Nubira is a near-midsize compact sedan made by Korean GM Daewoo. It is also known as the Lacetti sedan in Eastern Europe and United Kingdom and the Optra in Canada and India.
The car was first released to the market in 1997 as Daewoo Nubira (model J100) and was sold until 1999. The car takes its name from the Korean word Nubira which means "to go everywhere". It as developed as a replacement for the General Motors J-platform based Daewoo Nexia and featured styling from Italian 'IDEA design'. A sedan and a station wagon versions were produced.
In 2000, the J100 underwent over 90 improvements. Examples of these include an increase in passenger space and reduction in the NHV (Noise, Harshness, Vibration), particularly from the engine, by adding a 4th engine mount and by tuning the intake resonators. In addition, the exterior design was reworked by Daewoo's Worthing Technical Center in the U.K, creating a more dynamic image. The internal model index and the name were not changed however.
In 2003, a new J200 sedan was unveiled, styled by Pininfarina. The station wagon version was unweiled in 2004. Following the rebranding of all Daewoos as Chevrolet in 2005, the cars undergone a restyle.
CKD kits of Nubira J200 sedan are exported to Ukraine, India and Uzbekistan. The badge engineered version is sold in the North America as Suzuki Forenza.
