Channeled whelk

Channeled Whelk, Busycotypus canaliculatus (Linnaeus, 1758), is a type of whelk (a type of marine snail).

It is found from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to northern Florida. The full taxonomy of the Channeled Whelk is Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Mollusca, Class Gastropoda (Cuvier, 1797), Subclass Prosobranchia (Milne-Edwards, 1848), Order Neogastropoda, Family Melongenidae (Gill, 1867), Genus Busycotypus (Wenz, 1943).
