Châtenay-Malabry is a city in France, in the southern suburbs of Paris, on the left bank of the Seine.
The name Châtenay comes from châtaigners (sweet chestnut tree) and Malabry comes from a deformation of badly located, spoiled ground.
The commune includes the valley la vallée aux loups with green forests and pretty houses including Châteaubriand. It also includes the Butte Rouge, its most populated area.
Châtenay is the location of the École Centrale Paris and the École de Pharmacie (School of pharmacy). The high-speed TGV Atlantique goes across the city through an underground railway called Coulée verte (greenway).
Since December 31, 2002, it is part of the Communauté d'agglomération des Hauts de Bièvre
