CD:UK

CD:UK is a UK television show launched in September 1998 on Saturday mornings on ITV1 as part of the long running Saturday morning combo of the above show and its sister show, SMTV Live, which ran until December 2003. Its first initial presenters were Ant & Dec and Cat Deeley, but the show has had many guest presenters including Amanda Holden and James Redmond. The show has outlived SM:TV probably because many see it as the perfect antidote to resurrecting yourself on Saturday morning from your Friday night hangover.

The show's format basically comprises of star interviews, live performances, video exclusives, competitions and the Saturday chart, notorious because quite often what CD:UK told the viewers was the #1 song in the country was the song that was officially announced as being #1 the previous Sunday in the new chart on BBC Radio 1. This renders the chart virtually out-of-date and unreliable. Not only that, but quite often, CD:UK has landed itself in trouble for one raunchy performance or two, a classic example of this being a performance of "Dirrty" by Christina Aguilera in 2002.

Because of this, it launched the grittier, late night version of the show, CD:UK Hotshots, in January 2003, which plays new music videos (and quite often, the one considered too out there for daytime viewing). As of early 2005, Cat Deeley has left the show and in her place will be MTV's Dave Berry, with a different guest co-host every week.
