Category:Corporations sponsoring NASCAR drivers
This is a list of corporations that sponsor teams competing in NASCAR as of the 2005 season. A sponsor is responsible for assisting in the funding of the team, and in exchange, the company gets the placement of their name or logo on the auto body of the stock car. A sponsor may be primary (it gives the most money); therefore, it will be the most prominent company or logo on the car (for example, on the hood of the car). Secondary sponsors may have smaller logos placed on different parts of the car. Sometimes, a secondary sponsor may have a deal to place their logo in the most prominent locations (hood) for one race during the season.
A sponsor may also place their logo on a driver's racing suit instead of the car.
Each of these companies sponsors a team in either the Nextel Cup Series, Busch Series, or Craftsman Truck Series. Some sponsors may sponsor a team in each of the series.
The automobile companies sponsor teams on the very fact that they provide financing and information regarding building the race vehicles. Toyota also places its name and Tundra truck brand on a Craftsman Series truck. DaimlerChrysler races Dodges in each series, as well as placing the Dodge brand on a Nextel Series car.
Note that this is a list of sponsoring corporations; this does not necessarily mean that the company has its own name on the car. For example, Pfizer Inc. does not have its name on a NASCAR car, but sponsors Mark Martin's car via its VIAGRA brand. Another example is Black & Decker, which sponsors via its DeWalt tool brand.
Some companies, such as The Gillette Company, sponsor via several of its brands, such as Duracell and Gillette Razors.
Other companies, such as The Coca-Cola Company, may sponsor several teams.
