Captain Planet

Captain Planet is a fictional character and superhero in the animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

Captain Planet was created by Ted Turner at the beginning of the 1990's. The idea behind the series was to create an entertaining action program that was meant to make viewers aware of environmental hazards. The villains Captain Planet had to fight included a character called Duke Nukem.

Captain Planet was formed by combining the power of the rings of the Planeteers, those being EARTH, FIRE, WIND, WATER, HEART.

As of 2005, Captain Planet was retired from Cartoon Network. Rumors indicate that it may actually see airtime on Cartoon Network's sister channel, Boomerang. If so, this would make Captain Planet the newest show to air on the channel.
