Calgary Mustangs

The Calgary Mustangs were a Calgary, Alberta, based A-League professional soccer team, that played in 2004.

They were initially formed in 2001 as the Calgary Storm, with the present ownership group taking over in January of 2004. Despite playing on artificial turf at McMahon Stadium (the only A-League team not to play on grass), the Mustangs had an acceptable season, and had relatively good fan support. However, at the end of the year, the owners elected not to play in 2005 and the team is now dormant. One player of note is goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld, who went from the Storm to England's Tottenham Hotspur.
